This week I’ve had the opportunity to get to know Barrow and the hardworking team who comprise our Barrow branch.

About Barrow

Barrow is a town built on industry, and that’s as true today as it was when the town’s historic ship building industry began. With a number of large national and international employers basing their operations in the town, Barrovians rightly pride themselves on their hard working ethic.

But, as the old saying goes, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, and Barrow is anything but dull. There’s plenty of play on offer here, from a wealth of great pubs and restaurants to classic attractions such as a cinema and even a go carting track.

For those looking for something unique, Barrow is ideally placed for speedy access to both the Western and East areas of the Lake District. Many Barrow folk can be found spending their hard won days off enjoying time in what is arguably the most beautiful area of the UK.
If you like your attractions wilder still, nearby Dalton Wild Animal Park should satisfy even the most adventurous pleasure seeker. This small but growing zoo, boasts a range of species to rival even the biggest zoos and a committed conservation campaign to match.

About our branch

I love getting on the phone to Barrow branch. The staff are cheerful, enthusiastic and they always know exactly what I’m calling about, so it’s a pleasure to actually come to the branch and speak to people face to face.

This is a team that’s really going places. Branch manager, Andrew Collins, has nothing but good things to say about the hard work and commitment of his team;

“Our unique selling point in Barrow is that we are a really proactive team. We love selling houses and once we’ve been instructed to sell we don’t wait for a buyer, we work hard until we find one.”

Andrew also told me that this hard working attitude has seen Barrow branch bring down the time their listed properties stay on the market, “We don’t think our clients should have to compromise. When a client trusts us to sell or let their property we promise to do that better and faster than anyone else. People from Barrow appreciate how driven our team is, because they are too. That’s why we’ve listed 38% more properties this year than in 2014. Next year we want that figure to be even higher.”

But this team don’t just list properties, the Barrow branch figures show an increase in sales of an enviable 44% year on year. It’s no wonder then that the team are enthusiastic about their role in the property market here. A quick glance at the listings reveals the kind of buoyant and varied market most Estate Agents would love to be a part of. Properties range from bargain £40,000 flats and terraces, ideal for investors, through quality properties priced between £60,000.-80,000 to suit any first time buyer, right up to fabulous luxury properties.

So the sales market is doing well, but what about lettings? With so many blue chip companies investing in Barrow it’s inevitable that with that comes a healthy rental market, a fact that hasn’t gone unnoticed by savvy property investors.

Lettings centre manager Adam Anderton told me why;“There’s lots of employment in Barrow and more on the way. With that comes a demand for property, particularly in the rental sector. I’ve worked in lettings in a number of different areas of the North West and the unique thing about Barrow, alongside its comparatively high yields, is how committed tenants are to the area. Many tenants are content to stay in longer term contracts and that leads to lower void periods for landlords to deal with and a more secure investment.”

So it seems like exciting times for Barrow and our branch are proud to be part of it. The people of Barrow have the Estate Agent they deserve, a hardworking branch for a hardworking town.
