Each week I’ll be visiting one of our busy branches, getting to know the area and meeting the team. This week I’m on home turf. Not only is Morecambe the town I call home, but Morecambe branch is where I found my own property.

About Morecambe

I visited Morecambe on the hottest day of the year. Under an enormous cloudless blue sky it’s easy to see why, in its heyday, Morecambe was one of the UK’s most sort after holiday destinations. Since then it’s seen its full share of ups and downs, as foreign travel became more affordable for all. But ask any local today and they’ll tell you that it’s about time Morecambe and all its charms were put back on the map.

If you're looking for a great day out by the seaside or a home within reach if lots of attractions Morecambe has the lot. The summer season boasts an impressive array of seafront festivals including the ever popular catch the wind, kite festival and Vintage by the Sea. Whilst on the seafront itself you can enjoy Morecambe’s promenade which stretches for an impressive five miles with beautiful views across to the Lake District. From there why not head back into town and take in Morecambe’s growing number of independent and High Street shops and a variety of cafes and restaurants?

For families Morecambe offers a number of attractions. At Happy Mount Park children and adults alike can enjoy the famous splash park, zip wire and miniature train. And for those of you with a pocket full of change Morecambe isn’t short of traditional arcades.

So from traditional seaside pursuits to spectacular natural attractions Morecambe has something to offer for every taste.

Accommodation in Morecambe varies from a large number of bungalows, particularly in the Bare and Torrisholme areas, to traditional Victorian seaside villas and new build developments in Heysham and Grosvenor Park.

About our branch

Morecambe branch has a significant place in Farrell Heyworth’s history, being the first ever office to open, and is currently run by one of the firm’s longest standing members of staff. In fact staff retention is one of Morecambe branches strong points which suggests this is a positive and successful place to work. Which is exactly what I found on the day of my visit. The branch has a busy hum about it with a constant stream of customers and staff completing tasks.

“We’re a really high volume office so there’s always a lot going on here” says John Holloway, Morecambe’s Marketing Advisor and FH rising star. “Morecambe is a really diverse market, we have a reputation for being a retirement town and we do have a lot of retired customers. But equally Morecambe is full of families.”

It’s really no surprise that retirees and families alike would look to Morecambe for a home, with so much on offer, with great transport links and proximity to lots of other popular areas in the North West its ideal. Morecambe offers really great value in terms of property too. You can get a lot for your money here without compromising.

John is clearly proud of the branches contribution to the lettings market too, “We also let a huge number of rental properties. The vast majority of our landlords have just a small portfolio of one or two properties. For some people this represents a huge investment so it’s nice to know they feel they can rely on us.” But it’s not just landlords that rely on the branch’s expertise. “We’re also increasingly finding that we’re able to help our tenants when they take their first steps on the property ladder. They know we give sound advice, so when the time is right to buy their own home they come back to us.” John explained that far from property being out of the reach of first time buyers, with recent help to buy initiatives, it’s never been closer.

For over 20 years Morecambe branch have been there to help customers find a rental property, buy their first house, grow their family and retire and this busy branch looks set to be there for the next 20.
