Each week I’ll be travelling around the North West meeting the hardworking members of the Farrell Heyworth team. This week it’s the turn of Bamber Bridge branch.

About Bamber Bridge

It’s clear driving into Bamber Bridge that this is the perfect location if you’re looking for a home with great transport links. The town itself is situated just a few miles away from Preston City Centre but it seems there’s virtually nowhere in the North West that isn’t accessible from this fantastic location. The A49, M61, M65 and M6 are all just a short hop away. Couple that with the town centre train station with regular trains to Blackpool, East Lancs, Manchester and beyond, and you have the perfect commuter town.

Driving round the town itself I found it had far more amenities than you might expect. Along with a good selection of shops and restaurants, Bamber Bridge also boasts a leisure centre, cinema and its own retail park.

The town centre seems to be a mecca for first time buyers and young families with a mixture of traditional terraced properties and well maintained new build homes to choose from. From there the next step on the property ladder could be a larger property in one of the nearby rural and semi-rural villages, such as beautiful Salmesbury or Hoghton.

I’ve turned up at Bamber Bridge branch at an unusual time. The town is still buzzing just days after the local Preston North End fan ritual of raising the coffin (It’s definitely worth a Google) and branch manager Senga Shuttleworth is just finishing helping an elderly client with a particularly tricky sale.
“There’s no such thing as a typical day in Bamber Bridge,” Senga tells me “and that’s why we’ve been so successful since we opened. This community has really responded to an independent agent, big enough to have the resources of the national firms and small enough to be able to cater to each client’s individual needs.”

It’s obvious that Senga and her team take the time to do just that because her clients come back, time and again.

“It’s a real privilege to help people progress through the chain. We get lots of first-time buyers in branch. I think they choose us because we have the time and experience to help them through what could otherwise be quite a nerve wracking experience. And then a few years down the line when they’re ready to start a family they come in to sell those properties and move on to their next home.”

It’s understandable why young families would want to stay in Bamber Bridge. Local schools come highly recommended by Ofsted and buyers can find 3 bed semi-detached properties priced between £110,000 and £150,000, well below the national average.

At the end of the day I’m quite reluctant to leave the friendly Bamber Bridge office, I feel like I’ve had a real taste of what a welcoming atmosphere this branch offers to the diverse community of this town.
