Each week I’ll be travelling around the North West visiting our local branches and meeting the teams. This week it’s the turn of Blackpool branch.
Everybody knows about Blackpool, don’t they? It’s all kiss me quick hats and donkey rides right? But wait, movie legend Tim Burton says he loves Blackpool and has been many times. So maybe there’s more to this seaside town than you realised…
Blackpool has a prosperous town centre with lots of big name shops, restaurants and bars. Tourism is still thriving and the town boasts a wealth of attractions including a theme park, zoo, two theatres, three piers, a circus and the world famous tower.
And amongst the attractions you might already be familiar with are a wealth of cultural gems, such as the two popular theatres and various art installations.
Property in the town ranges from flats to large properties in the outlying rural areas and caters for all.
The rental market is thriving and was named the 3rd best site for property investment in the UK by HSBC in 2015, due to relatively low property prices and high demand for rental property.
Blackpool is definitely one of our most exciting branches. I don’t know where the staff in this branch get their energy from, but I want some. The atmosphere in branch is warm, friendly and fun, but don’t get the wrong impression, these guys are all about selling property.
From the moment I step into branch until the time I leave the phones are ringing, clients are popping in and proactive work for clients is being done, in fact some members of the branch are so busy out valuing properties, speaking to clients and accompanying viewings I didn’t even get to meet them.
Talking to branch manager Andrew Collins it’s clear that he’s hugely proud of the achievements of his hard working team.
“Our branch consistently have the largest market share in Blackpool, which means we sell and let more properties than anyone else. I think that’s down to the hard work of my team in branch. These guys are fantastic. I’ve had a great opportunity in the last 12 months to bring some great people on board here at Blackpool and I think we’ve really created a great atmosphere. We all love doing our jobs and that means that it’s never a chore for this team to go the extra mile. I think that’s why people choose us.”
Andrew told me that there is a huge mixture of housing stock in Blackpool but by far the most popular buyer is an unlikely group….
“We just can’t find enough properties suitable for first-time buyers. The media are constantly reporting how difficult it is for first-time buyers to get on the ladder. Not in Blackpool. There’s a growing employment rate here and lots of suitable property at the right price. Properties priced between 80 to 120 thousand pounds fly out of the door. It’s a great time to be looking to sell that kind of property.”
But despite their success, this keen branch aren’t resting on their laurels. Work begins shortly on an expansion of the office to include a brand new lettings centre upstairs.
“We do offer properties to rent in Blackpool and offer property management services already but our specialised lettings team will be able to do more. The lettings market in Blackpool is becoming increasingly popular. We’re selling more and more properties to investors and we want to be able to offer them a first class lettings experience, as well as offering the benefit of a dedicated lettings team to anyone looking to rent a property.”
I really enjoyed visiting our Blackpool branch, this young, high energy team are really inspiring and I’d feel confident knowing they were hunting down a buyer on my behalf.
